Korman entry & T.V. room remodel

July & August 2010
What began as a simple entry door replacement and entryway tile job eventually grew into a somewhat major remodel.  The existing T.V. room was seperated from the living room and entry hall by an arch with double French doors giving it a cramped and dark sort of feel to it.  After the entry door was bumped out 6ft.and the dividing wall cut down and back to a short half wall the room still didn't feel as open as they would like.  The next step was to raise the door partition up to the level of the T.V. room ceiling which gave it a more spacious feeling.  The existing carpet came up in the entry hall and although they had originally just wanted the entryway tiled it became obvious that the tile should probably extend into the entire room.  Out came the rest of the carpet and in went new subfloor.  With all this new tile I asked if they had any concerns about it being cold.  Um....maybe.  Order the radient heating system and install that followed by Ditra underlayment and finally 12x12 inch tile.
The entry bench was the last thing to consider and it seemed like it should be more a piece of built-in furniture than just a seat with some coat hooks on the wall and eventually that's what it became.
